I always worry about the files and data we'd lose if our house were to burn down. With those fears in mind I was ecstatic to test the ioSafe N2 fireproof and waterproof NAS for SmallNetBuilder. It was much more than a cute feature review, we actually threw this thing in to the fire, let it burn for 30 minutes, then pulled it out and submerged it in a tub of water for 3 days. It's worth the read and a great product if you have no backup solution in case of fire. You can see the entire article over on SmallNetBuilder, ioSafe N2 NAS Reviewed.

LAN Speed Test was designed from the ground up to be a simple but powerful tool for measuring file transfer, hard drive, USB Drive, and Local Area Network (LAN) speeds (wired & wireless). It does this by building a file in memory, then transfers it both ways (without effects of windows file caching) while keeping track of the time, and then does the calculations for you. Simple concept and easy to use. You'll find that LAN Speed Test will quickly become one of your favorite network tools!

    ASRock E350M1/USB3

I'm going to raffle off the ASRock E350M1/USB3 motherboard/CPU combo I initially used in my TiVo repurposing article. I've replaced it with a more powerful one, which I used in the SmallNetBuilder TVersity review. This would be a great motherboard for use in building a Vortexbox.

    Free Roku with PlayOn

If you are thinking of purchasing PlayOn anyway, now is a great time to do it as they are giving away a free Roku with the lifetime PlayOn subscription. If you've read any of my articles you know that I'm a big fan of using PlayOn for things like streaming flash video to an iPad and watching Hulu on DLNA devices and the iPad for free.
