LanSpeedTest MAC vs Windows
We are seeing some interesting rules using LanSpeedTest in our environment with a mixture of MAC's and PC's.
Using a MAC, connecting to a SMB share (through SMB1/2 or AFP through ExtremeZ-IP) we are seeing write speeds of around 8MB/s, while the read speed is closer to 100 MB/s. On a Windows machine the read/write speeds are the same (100 MB/s) (connecting to the same share location).
Anyone got any suggestions as to why this might be ?
FYI, Mac Ethernet is 1000baseT (and it can read at expected speed, just not write!)
Thanks,
Darren

I'm experiencing similar things. Getting very low write speeds. I have windows in bootcamp and LST works perfectly there. So there seems to be a bug in the OS X App.
Just a note: Blackmagic Disk Speed Test works without problems, but i'd like the same tool on Mac and Windows.
Thanks

I agree, I think it's an issue with the application for OSX. My network is all 1000Gbps speeds, and when I run the LAN test on my windows machines to a local SMB share, they average 575Mbps-600Mbps in both read and write speed. Tonight, I ran the LAN Speed Test on my iMac connected to the same local SMB share and the write speed was 6Mbps while the read speed was 610Mbps. I know it's obviously wrong because I can copy a 1GB sized file to that same SMB share in just over 10 seconds, and like the poster "neilshojen" said above I too run a copy of Windows 7 on that same Mac except I use VMWare Fusion and get 576Mbps-600Mbps read and write inside the Windows VM so it's definitely not the hardware.

Thanks for your notes and descriptions guys. So far I haven't been able to re-produce it here, but there are others with the same issue. I am doing some further investigating, and will hopefully have a answer/fix for you soon.
