Curiouser and curiouser !!!
I added the LST server to my tower and ran the tests from the Gateway notebook. NOTE: I have already changed cables and retested above with no change.
So I run the LAN test Lite...
Version 1.3.1
OS Version: Windows 7
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8400 @ 2.26GHz
Date: 05/23/2014

High Performance Timer: 0.0000004529
Server IP: 192.168.44.142
Server Port: 4456
Connected to LST Server v1.3. Your IP address is 192.168.44.242.
Write Time = 0.2172128 Seconds
Write Speed = 736.6046880 Mbps
Read Time = 0.1794304 Seconds
Read Speed = 891.7105760 Mbps
Looking good !!!
I install and register the client on the Gateway notebook...
"Date","Time","Computer","IP Address","MAC Address","Folder Or Server IP","Packet Size","# Packets","# Streams","RTT (LST Server)","Write Speed","Units","Read Speed","Units","Status","Notes"

Hmmm... so the lite is write/read 736Mb/891Mb and the licenced version at its default settings give write/read 171Mb/782Mb.
Wonder what is different in the Lite's default settings and what else is going on.
